Our Work with Children
For over 50 years more than 2000 children have attended the preschool at Centennial Infant and Child Centre.
Thousands more have been served through the Early Intervention Program. Centennial supports children with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. Children with Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, delays resulting from prematurity, congenital anomalies, brain damage caused by accident or illness and many other special needs are a part of the CENTENNIAL community.
The children work hard to master skills such as walking, manipulating toys, communicating, self-help tasks and many other things that so many of us take for granted.
Each child makes gains, grows, learns and develops due to the commitment of their parents, the expertise of the staff and the support of the programs’ volunteers. Visitors are impressed with the spirit of fun, the buzz of activity and the positive attitude that is contagious to all who participate at CENTENNIAL. Experience has taught us that time spent at CENTENNIAL helps others to see less of the handicap and more of the child. It is a privilege to work with the children and their families. They deserve to be cherished and have so much to teach us.
